Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22nd, 1985, in New York City New York) is well-known for her ability to act across different various genres from period dramas to thrillers to action-packed films. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised by an architect father and producer mother. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. When she was a kid she started acting. Actually, at seven She had auditioned for several commercials. To improve her skills, she attended an acting class at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan followed by she attended the Professional Children's School. Johansson made her debut an actor in the film North (1994) when she was nine. She was just eight when she appeared with Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson was next seen on screen in Just Cause (1995), after which she made her debut in the film Manny & Lo - a story of two sisters and orphans, who manage to get away. Then, she was awarded critical praise for portraying a teenage girl who had experienced an accident which caused her to be disfigured in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention with the film Ghost World (2002) as the cynical outcast Rebecca.
